For youth with emotional and/or behavioral disturbances, Foster Homes with Therapeutic Services provides community-based services within a family home setting. The  3-9  month program is often a "step-down" from hospitalization or a residential setting and can be helpful in transitioning youth from a higher level of care to successful integration into the community.

Youth in the Program receive support from a case manager/counselor and participate in weekly individual and group sessions. The Program strives to help youth and families reunify when possible. If not, efforts are focused on supporting the youth's transition to a long-term placement in long-term foster care or with relatives.

Foster parents that provide Therapeutic Services receive pre-service training as well as ongoing monthly trainings and support. In addition, a Qualified Mental Health Professional provides weekly supervision to assist foster parents in providing a therapeutic family environment for youth. Funding for Foster Homes with Therapeutic Services comes, in part, from the Department of Health (DOH). Referrals from the Family Guidance Center (FGC).
