Hui Malama Ohana Youth Service Center (HMO-YSC), based at Stevenson and Kawananakoa Middle Schools in Honolulu, provides a range of opportunities, experiences, and services for youth in order to help prevent runaways and truancy, to improve school performance, and to strengthen family relationships.
HMO promotes a “client centered” approach to encourage positive youth development, build resiliency in youth, strengthen family functioning, and prevent or reduce delinquency and recidivism. In addition to providing strong center-based services, trained Case Managers target youth and families who may be unlikely to access more traditional services by providing services in the community and at home. Youth can become involved in the following activities: Case Management, tutoring, sports, wellness groups, vocational preparation, community service, summer intersession programs.
HMO-YSC is a collaboration of four community-based agencies – Hale Kipa, Kualoa-Heeia Ecumenical Youth Project, Susannah Wesley Community Center, and Parents and Children Together.
