September is National Suicide Prevention Awareness Month. Each year, close to 43,000 Americans die by suicide.
Suicide was the most common cause of fatal injuries for Hawaii residents from 2010-2014, according to the State Department of Health. One person dies by suicide in Hawaii every two days. Pledge to #stopsuicide being there when someone needs to talk. A 24-hour Oahu hotline is available at 832-3100; neighbor islands may call toll free at 1-800-753-6879. Through our crisis and counseling services, we help youth in urgent times of need.
Emotional health is important. Let’s take a closer look this month at what helps us be emotionally healthy.
