ZONTA CLUB OF KAUAI DONATES $2,600 IN GIFT CARDS TO HALE KIPA KAUAI YOUTH

The Zonta Club of Kauai has donated $2,600 in Kmart gift cards for Hale Kipa Kauai youth and their families. The gift cards have been used to purchase “wish list” items for the holidays, benefiting around 60 youth and families.

The Zonta Club of Kauai, which works to empower women in Hawaii and around the world, donated the gift cards as part of its Christmas Fund in partnership with The Garden Island newspaper. This annual effort was established in the early 1980s, providing gift cards to youth and families in need during the holidays. The club raised $30,000 this year, benefiting nine agencies. Hale Kipa has been selected to participate for around 7 consecutive years.

Hale Kipa receives a wish list from each participating family and uses the gift cards to make purchases during the holiday season, which staff members pick up, wrap and deliver. Hale Kipa also hosts a small celebration for the families at its Kauai office. The stories of select recipients are featured in The Garden Island newspaper each year.
