Staff from the Youth Outreach (YO!) program run by Hale Kipa and Waikiki Health attended the annual University of Hawaii at Manoa Condom Fair on Valentine’s Day, Feb. 14, 2017. With the theme “Love is in the Air,” the event helped promote healthy relationships for students in a fun and relaxed atmosphere.
Hale Kipa and Waikiki Health staff played games with participants and gave out prizes, serving approximately 230 people throughout the three-hour event at the Campus Center Courtyard.
According to the University of Hawaii, the purpose of the fair is to “promote a healthier lifestyle through the appropriate and consistent use of condoms, healthy sexual decision-making and good communication.” This year’s event offered educational activities such as the Condom Race and “Pin the Condom on Jack.” Prizes and giveaways, such as condom roses, condom lollipops, educational material, candy and other fun Valentine’s Day items, were also available.
Since 1989, Hale Kipa and Waikiki Health have been providing services to the homeless, runaway and street-identified youth and young adults on Oahu through YO! For more, click here.
