Hale Kipa Staff Participate in Hilo Paddling Race

On April 21, 2018, Hale Kipa Kai Like Program (KLP) staff from the Island of Hawaii participated in the Kamehameha Canoe Club’s 35th-Annual Business Regatta at Hilo Bayfront Park.

“It’s a great way to have employees get together and enjoy the day,” said Wainani Lee, who participated in the event and sponsored a canoe. “Hale Kipa has one of smallest numbers of canoes entering races, but we make a big impact. Our crew is known to do very well at races.”

The Hale Kipa paddlers, which included any staff and family members who were interested in joining, made it to finals this year and enjoyed a celebratory potluck after the race. It is the third year of participation by an organized Hale Kipa staff group.

The regatta is open to all Island of Hawaii businesses and organizations. Additional information about the event and the Kamehameha Canoe Club is available here.
