Held on the evening of Friday, October 24th, Hale Kipa’s ‘Ewa Beach parking lot was transformed into a lively Halloween wonderland. The event, hosted by Hale Kipa’s Puʻuhonua team (Emergency Shelter Services), provided a fun and safe space for our costumed ʻōpio (youth) to celebrate the season with laughter, creativity, and community spirit.
Trick-or-treaters made their rounds through a lineup of imaginative and cleverly decorated vehicle trunks, each offering its own twist of spooky fun and sweet rewards:
-
- Ghostly Hungry Hippo — The gaping mouth of a hippo created a pit of red balls that had to be popped to uncover hidden treats.
-
- The Playful and Mysterious Gypsy Fortune Teller — Guests lined up to receive their fun fortunes and a few surprises.
-
- Ghostbusters’ Ectoplasmic Drink Station — Serving up glowing green refreshments worthy of the paranormal.
-
- Friendly Scarecrow and Her Pumpkin Farm — A cheerful autumn display complete with a “Field of Treats.”
-
- The Skull Collector — A spooky trunk challenge where brave trick-or-treaters were tempted to reached in for their treat … if they dared!
.
The evening also featured photo ops with beloved movie characters including:
Mike Wazowski and James P. Sullivan from Monsters Inc., Princess Fiona and Donkey from Shrek, and Bluey and Bingo Heeler from the Bluey animated television series.
Guests enjoyed backpack, school supply, and blanket giveaways, as well as games and line dancing to the Electric Slide. And let’s not forget the hot dogs and hamburgers, hot off the grill — because Halloween fun definitely works up an appetite!
