About Foster Care at Hale Kipa

Do you want a chance to make a profound impact on a child’s life?  There is no more rewarding way than by becoming a foster parent and providing love, encouragement, and a stable home to a vulnerable or displaced child.

Here at Hale Kipa, we serve at-risk youth and their families who have nowhere else to turn, including children who need foster care. Our program provides therapeutic foster care to children ages three to 17 on the Islands of O‘ahu and Hawai‘i under our Transitional Family Homes Program. Overseen by the Child and Adolescent Mental Health Division of the State of Hawai‘i Department of Health, Hale Kipa connects children with highly trained resource caregivers or foster parents in a stable home until they can be reunited with their family, adopted, or learn to live independently.

“I gave being vulnerable a chance because I felt safe in the foster home.” – Makana

Here’s what we offer:

  • A dedicated therapist case manager
  • Therapeutic and support services
  • 24/7 on-call staff
  • Monthly reinforcement from other foster parents and staff
  • Respite care options for up to two weeks
  • Generous tax-free stipend ($65 per day)
  • Initial and ongoing training

Most importantly, becoming a foster parent allows you to make a true difference in a child’s life.
