Coronavirus Update

March 27, 2020

Aloha,

During this critical time, Hale Kipa remains open and continues to provide services to the children, youth, families and young adults who need our help.

Hale Kipa is also deeply committed to the health and safety of our clients and staff. There are several ways in which we have modified our operations during the COVID-19 pandemic:

  • We are closely monitoring reports and following guidance from local health officials, including: screening employees and clients for risk factors and symptoms of illness; enhancing our cleaning and handwashing procedures; and enforcing social distancing whenever possible;
  • We are providing services primarily through teleconferencing and phone calls, and are encouraging the use of HIPAA-compliant Teleservices for sessions, visits, meetings and training;
  • We are supporting our staff, the majority of whom are working remotely from home;
  • We are continuing outreach to our foster homes as appropriate and needed;
  • We are continuing to accept referrals to all outreach programs;
  • Transitional Living Programs are admitting young adults needing housing;
  • Hale Kipa’s YO! Project is providing limited street outreach and is open four days a week for drop-in services.
  • From March 27 until April 10th, we are not accepting any referrals for our Emergency Shelter.

In addition, we are suspending external group sessions and are limiting access to visitors at our shelters in an effort to help prevent the spread of COVID-19.

Our hearts go out to all who have been impacted by COVID-19, along with our hope that we as a community can come together to take care of each other during this difficult time. Thank you for your patience and understanding. If you have any questions, please contact us at (808) 589-1829 or info@halekipa.org.

Mahalo,

Punky Pletan-Cross
