In 2020, Hale Kipa is celebrating its 50th anniversary serving Hawaii’s at-risk youth and their families. We have grown from a single shelter on Oahu founded by the Honolulu Police Department, Family Court and the Junior League.
At first, we provided a safe haven for domestically abused and runaway girls. Recognizing gaps among the limited services available to at-risk youth, we expanded over time to include youth outreach, independent living, therapeutic counseling, foster care and other programs. Our services now span Oahu, Kauai and the Island of Hawaii.
